Pictures of small poultry houses

Pictures of small poultry houses made of steel and galvanised sheet – these are the cheapest way way for a small chicken farmer to start chicken farming. Poultry houses in South Africa are often made of steel – the large commercial chicken houses are cement, bricks and steel – but if you want to farm with 3000 broiler chickens or less the best option is a yellow door house.

These small farmer broiler production units come in almost any size you want – under 30m x 6m.  The option of a layer house made of steel is also a good choice if you are raising chickens for eggs. A layer house can have layer cages or nest boxes. The best chicken house in South Africa is the Yellow door poultry house.

You will need running water and electricity to run a good poultry production unit – both broilers and layers will need electricity – especially if you are in a very hot place in South Africa or a very cold place. Heaters, fans and curtains are used for controlling temperature in a hoenderhok.

Layer cages and nest boxes

Depending on what type of chicken farming you want to do you will have a poultry house and poultry equipment specific to that type of chicken farming. Some of the chicken equipment like poultry drinkers and chicken feeders will stay the same – but the house structure is a little different – in a broiler house the sides are higher and the roof lower than in a layer house. chicken house, poultry house, steel chicken house, small chicken coop, small poultry, small farmer, hoenderhok, hoenderhuis

I am impressed on how it is simple to construct poltry houses depending on the size one is targeting. I will sooon start one for commercial purpposes not only for subsistence. Othewise,
    1. how regular do one vaccinate the chickens per year and by which interval?
    2. is there any ratio of water the chickens can be ratined on or just plenty of it?

    Thanks for informative displays.

Thanks for the comment – you will need to contact a company like Immunovet – they will help you with all you need to know about vaccinating your chickens. With regards to how much water to give your chickens – spot on – let them drink as much as they can. Chickens know how much they need – if they do not have enough water then they stop eating – dry throat and all that. The only time you might limit their water is before giving them mediaction in their water. Before you spike their drink you would withhold water for a short time – so that when you put medication in their water they are thirsty, and all the chickens drink from the medicated water.
